Get top-rated chimney repointing services, that guarantee you long-lasting and effective results. Over time, the mortar holding your chimney bricks together will deteriorate. That’s where chimney repointing comes into play! Our team specializes in full or partial repointing of chimneys.
The chimney repointing process involves several steps:
We also provide chimney crown work. Chimney crowns work as a protective covering for the top of the chimney. We use one of two methods, pour in place or hand trowel/parge.
Pour in place involves preparing the chimney with site fabricated forms. These forms will create an overhang with a built-in drip lip to keep water from running off the cap and down the chimney. We also install rebar and wire mesh to add strength, and an expansion joint around all flues. Finish by pouring 4000 plus PSI concrete into prepared forms and finish. This method is more expensive, but the longest lasting method to cap a chimney.
The “hand trowel/parge” method is where concrete is manually placed on a chimney using a trowel or similar tool. This method allows us to work with greater precision, shaping the crown and addressing the structure specifically. This is the least expensive option but may not last as long as pour in place.
