Slate Roof Repair & Replacement

Natural Protection

Slate roofs are the time-tested, proven roofing solution that dates back hundreds of years. In fact, some older homes, buildings and churches are still being protected by their original slate roofing systems. Slate is a truly natural roofing solution that requires expert craftsmen to repair or replace.

When you choose Biniek Specialty Contractors for your slate roofing needs, you’ve chosen the most experienced craftsman in central Pennsylvania. We take pride in our quality workmanship and can repair or replace your slate roofing system, returning it to its original glory.

Slate is not only beautiful, with each slate tile being unique, it is also known for its ability to resist all that nature throws at it – rain, wind, hail and snow.

At Biniek Specialty Contractors, we partner with Camara Slate, who sources and manufactures their slate from the quarries in Vermont. No two pieces are exactly alike with variations in texture, thickness and shading.

Benefits of Slate Roofing

Durable

Slate is one of the most durable natural building materials available. It’s made of natural stone and will not combust. It can withstand all kind of harsh weather and requires very little maintenance to ensure long-term performance.

It stands up to mold, mildew, algae, rodents and insects.

Hail Resistant

Hail is one of the leading causes of roof damage and central Pennsylvania experiences strong storms and hail –  especially in the spring.

The National Slate Association conducted laboratory testing to confirm the ability of natural roofing slate to withstand damage from hailstone impact, with 3/8″ thick slate tiles earning the Class IV hail rating, the highest available.

Naturally Beautiful

Slate has been used for centuries to create beautiful roofs and it’s celebrated for its ability to resist the assaults of rain, fire, wind, and snow.

It is widely used in both residential and commercial roofing projects and comes in a range of unique textures and colors. With its unmatched durability and dependability, it is a perfect marriage of practicality and beauty, enhancing any environment.

Why We Would Recommend Slate Roofing For Your Project

Weathering

Our roofing slate is classified into three different groups—unfading, semi-weathering, and weathering. These groups indicate the degree of color change that can be expected.

Unfading means that over time the slate will have no weather tones. The slate might lighten or deepen in color due to prolonged exposure to the elements. The semi-weathering slate will change 10% to 25%, whereas the weathering slate will change 30% or more.

This weathering continues to some degree throughout the life of the slate but does not diminish the longevity of the material.

Repair or Replace

Our team can perform slate roof inspections on your home or commercial property to determine if you need repairs or replacement. One of the main issues with a slate roof is the deterioration of the valleys and flashings over time.

Our team provides a thorough inspection and an estimate if repairs are needed for flashings, valleys or for any missing or damaged slate tiles.

Longevity

Slate is an extremely durable, natural roofing material that can last hundreds of years with little to no maintenance. Many historic buildings feature slate roofs that are still performing today.

Slate is resistant to fire, rot, mold, mildew and insects. It’s one of the most durable naturally occurring building materials available.  You can easily expect to get 75 to 100 years or more of protection from your slate roof.

Natural beauty

Slate is a beautiful roofing material that adds immense curb appeal to any home.  The natural shadings and colors in slate roofing tiles enhance the look the home while complementing the style and architecture.

The products we use for slate roof installations are natural and like fingerprints, no two pieces are exactly alike, with slight variations occurring in texture, thickness, and shading.

This all natural solution doesn’t contain chemicals or toxins. A slate roof not only enhances the charm and beauty of your home, it will add to the resale value as well.
